We recently stayed in a wonderful family friendly holiday cottage in Cornwall, perfect for larger families and ideally situated on the Roseland Peninsula near St Mawes and not too far from St Austell. This glorious place is part of the portfolio of Caerhays Holidays, owned by the privately owned Caerhays Castle further round the coast on the Roseland Heritage Coast.
Parc-an-Bounder is a barn conversion situated in rolling countryside within site of the sea on the Roseland Peninsula. It was converted just over a year ago and has been finished to a very high standard. It has a small garden to the front, and plenty of facilities for spending time outside: table and chairs, sun loungers and barbecue.
The interior is stunning, with plenty of space for a large family. The sitting room is cosy with a log burner, two sofas and doors which open on to the courtyard. The large TV offers Sky, Freeview and Netflix, perfect for a relaxing evening after a long day exploring the coast. WiFi is also available.
The girls loved slumping on the sofas in the mornings waiting for breakfast and our next adventure. There is a good supply of books and DVDs to keep everyone entertained, and several games in the cupboard to while away a quiet hour or two. The girls were very excited to be the first to open several of them!
The huge open plan kitchen dining room was soon colonised with our toys, books and everything else. But left ample room for eating, playing and planning our days out. The beautiful huge airy space was so lovely to sit in and perfect for families.
The bedrooms are down a few steps from the dining area, and all are spacious and beautifully done. There are two double bedrooms and one twin room, with two large family bathrooms, one en suite.
With endless hot water, you can get kids washed in two baths and still have plenty of time to get in the tub or the shower yourself. Complimentary toiletries as well, always a bonus!
Like everything else, the bedrooms are beautifully finished, with attractive art work, sturdy furniture offering plenty of space for all your clothes and luggage. We found all the beds extremely comfortable, and the house is so quiet and dark at night you are guaranteed a great night's sleep.
We absolutely loved our holiday house Parc-an-Bounder, the perfect comfortable place to stay for a holiday in this gorgeous location. With beautiful views and wonderful sunrises, you'll wake up cheerful every morning, ready for a day at the beach or exploring the local area.

We loved all the local artwork in the cottage, perfect for setting the tone of our holiday - sea, sea and more sea! There were so many delightful touches, such as fresh flowers and a complimentary hamper that really made us feel special and very welcome in the house.
The huge kitchen contains absolutely everything you could possibly need, with every conceivable utensil and apparatus necessary, including a very welcome dishwasher. The only possible issue is that the fridge is an under the counter one so rather small. Something to bear in mind if you are booking a supermarket delivery at the start of your holiday (recommended). But the Co-Op in St Mawes offers a good range of fresh food to stock up with every few days if needed.
Just look at your view from the kitchen window - bliss!
We loved the well-equipped utility room. So wonderful to be able to wash clothes out after a day at the beach. Outside there is a rotary washing line, or you could hang clothes over a clothes horse in the sitting room (very warm with huge windows that let in the sun), if you prefer not to use a tumble dryer. There is also a toilet next door.

We highly recommend Parc-an-Bounder for a wonderful holiday in Cornwall. Caerhays Holidays offers several other holiday cottages, including Percuil View next door which is a little smaller and sleeps 4. Ten other cottages are available from Caerhays Holidays, sleeping 2-16 people - find out more here. Highly recommended - we would certainly stay again!
We received a complimentary stay at Parc-an-Bounder in September.
